Graduate Studies

The graduate program in the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology exposes students to a broad range of experimental and analytical skills in biomedical science. The diversity of research being conducted by faculty members in Department of Biomedical Physiology Kinesiology is remarkable. It includes molecular and systems approaches to understanding the neuromuscularand cardiovascular systems, investigating the mechanisms of diseases such as cancer, diabetes and neurological disorders, investigating physiological adaptation to extreme environments (underwater and space), design of displays for computer-assisted surgery, investigation of the effects of brain injury, exploitation of the Internet and advances in robotics and microelectronics to provide more effective rehabilitation and investigation of ways to reduce negative impacts of aging. Students, post-doctoral fellows and faculty share a common aim of bringing work in these diverse areas together to advance our understanding of how the human body works with applications to prevention and treatment of disease and injury.

A graduate degree in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology can open opportunities for teaching and/or research related careers in biomedical science and health professions.
