• Last day for graduate students to enroll through self-service (late enrollment deadline)
• Last day to drop with no notation on transcript
• Last day to drop with 100% refund of tuition and fees
• Last day to change from credit to audit grade basis
• Last date to opt out or change your coverage in the Graduate Health Plan
• Grad fees are due and payable
• Deadline for submitting a U-Pass Exemption request

• Last day for graduate students to drop classes with WD on their transcripts 
• First day for new graduate students to pick up their student cards from Student Services (can be picked up the day after registering in fall classes).
   
 

Monday, August 1

• BC Day. University closed. 
   
 

Tuesday, August 3

• Last day for graduate students to drop classes under special procedures applicable in extenuating circumstances (WE on transcript). 
• First day for current graduate students to get their student cards updated to be usable in new U-Pass BC machines.
   

Monday, August 8

• Classes end for summer term. 
   
 

Wednesday-Saturday, August 10-20

• Examination period. 
   
 

Wednesday-Saturday, August 19

• Deadline to apply on the Student Information System for graduation in October 2011 convocation ceremonies, if you are completing degree requirements in Summer 2011 term.
    

Friday, August 26

• Last day for submission of all graduate degree requirements for 2011 Summer term (library submission deadline)
• Fully graded date (transcripts requested for 'after grades' will be printed)

Guidelines

Students may not carry balances from previous semesters; fees must be cleared before registration begins for the new semester. Click here for information on how to make payments to the University.

Graduate students should be familiar with information on graduate regulations and graduate fees contained in the Academic Calendar. Please read this information carefully!!

Finally, all students pay mandatory Student Society fees. This enables you to participate in a range of benefits. It is vital that you familiarize yourself with the rules around certain of these benefits: U-Pass, the Health, Counseling and Career Centre and Graduate Student Health & Dental Plan. Once you know the classes you want to enroll in and have familiarized yourself with the information contained on this web page, check the Schedule of Classes for Spring 2011. Your last step is to go to the Student Information System and enroll.

Withdrawing

Go to http://www.sfu.ca/dean-gradstudies/current/leavesandwithdrawals for information regarding withdrawal and applicable refunds of tuition fees. Check the websites listed below for refunds for U-Pass and Graduate Health Plan fees. You must notify Mary Ann Pope, Director of Graduate Records in writing at mpope@sfu.ca as well as your department if you are withdrawing from the semester and/or from your program. She will advise you as to the amount of the refund that might be available to you.

Graduation 

If you are completing your degree requirements in this term, you will find the information on How to Graduate and Degree Completion very important. Please note that you must be registered in this semester in order to defend and/or to submit your thesis or project.
