Explore the impossible with extreme adventurer and educator Ray Zahab

Weekly planning meetings are taking place on Monday afternoons to plan SFU's contribution to the Fall 2011 i2P Youth Expedition to India: Health Care.

This project will help graduate students acquire practical experience in educating and empowering a global audience by developing curricula, articulating facts, uncertainties, and current research initiatives on an issue.

It is an expectation that each graduate student's senior supervisor will participate, and therefore will be involved in the production of scholarly output of expedition findings. Moreover, a graduate student's participation in this project will be permitted only with the support of the individual's senior supervisor.

If you would like to get involved in this project, please contact Dr. George Agnes, Associate Dean,
Graduate Studies: gradstudies-assoc-dean@sfu.ca.

impossible2Possible (i2P) is a non-profit organization that sponsors youth expeditions with academic themes investigating pressing world issues. In the last three years, expeditions have taken Youth Ambassadors to Baffin Island, Tunisia, the Amazon basin, and the Bolvian Altiplano.

i2P uses exciting adventures as a backdrop for an innovative experiential learning program. Two of the three projects a year see selected Youth Ambassadors completing the expedition — their expedition — with Ray and team in tow.

These have included RunningTunisia in 2010 where 4 youth ran across southern Tunisian Sahara, a distance of 268 km in 8 days. They shared their adventure — what they were learning about themselves and the educational topic of water — with thousands of students through video conferencing, a live website, tracking, video/photo journaling plus a comprehensive educational program. Students in classrooms were then challenged to help the Youth Ambassadors in meaningful action and by December 2010, enough money had been raised by students all over the world to construct two water projects in Africa through established water-based NGOs.

Youth Expeditions have also included treks/runs on Baffin Island and most recently the Amazon jungle and Bolivia. There is no cost for participating schools, and there are no costs for the Youth Ambassadors to participate on an expedition.
