Conversations About Teaching

This series of 90-minute conversations began after the convening of an Open Space experience on Radical Teaching in the summer of 2007. During that event, faculty members, administrators and students engaged in free-flowing discussions about the fundamentals of teaching at SFU. The issues surfaced in the Open Space have served as the starting points for subsequent conversations.

Interdisciplinary discourse has framed the exploration of a range of topics, from the Bell Curve to Millennial Students, from critical pedagogy to writing-intensive course design. Unlike workshops with pre-determined agendas, the focus of each gathering emerges from the interests of participants. Through collegial exchanges, essential questions are explored through the perspective of many lenses, and in the context of SFU.

Our next Conversation takes place on November 18th. For further information and to register for this session please go to
